Here mines are cleared from the Ukrainian fields – and detonated

The traces of the war are everywhere in Ukraine – not least in the ground, where lots of mines remain. SVT’s reporter Bengt Norborg and photographer Emil Larsson visited deminers in the country, who clean up unexploded ordnance.

Started as a volunteer

One of those helping with mine clearance is 20-year-old Valeriy Chupyna.

– My father started volunteering, and a few months later I joined too, he says.

Watch the minesweepers detonate the mines in the clip.
