Today, 39-year-old Mikael was buried, who was shot dead in front of his son two weeks ago.
Just over 250 people gathered in a chapel in Huddinge, where TV4 Nyheterna was invited by the family.
– I wanted to thank Mikael for having civil courage, says Carola Häggkvist.
The murder has received a lot of attention.
After Mikael, 39, was shot to death on his way to the swimming pool with his son, hundreds of people gathered for a candlelight ceremony, politicians turned up for a memorial service that evening and at the weekend a demonstration was held in Skärholmen.
And even though the funeral was private, there wasn’t room for everyone to sit.
The mother: Nice role model
During the ceremony, Mikael was described as a hero who dared to speak out.
– I wanted to thank Mikael for his civil courage, says Carola Häggkvist, who was invited to sing at the funeral.
– I was asked a few days ago and immediately felt that this is where I want to be. Both as a fellow human being and as a singer, she says.
Another who sang during the ceremony was Isabell, mother of Mikael’s son.
– I sang a song that I wrote for Mikael and our son. Mikael made sure that everyone had a good time. A fine person and a fine role model for our son, she says.
No arrests
Mikael was shot to death at 6 pm just over two weeks ago. He had reportedly reprimanded a youth gang. During the following weekend, two people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder. They have now been arrested.
But no one is yet a suspect in the murder.
