He has been singled out as a leader, orderer and mastermind behind large parts of the Swedish drug trade. It is about Rawa Majid, also known as “The Kurdish Fox”.

– He has built up this entire business and has been able to go largely under the radar, says Christoffer Nilsson, crime reporter at Aftonbladet in Efter fem.
The Kurdish fox, or Rawa Majid as he is called, is suspected of a number of serious crimes – but it was only when they got access to encrypted chats that both journalists and the police got the picture that he is a very big player.
– At first it was about pure drug dealing. But in 2021, the police will open their eyes to the fact that there is a huge capital of violence that can be linked to how he will control and expand his market, says Aftonbladet’s crime reporter Christoffer Nilsson in Efter fem Sunday.
Nilsson believes that it is difficult to explain how the “Kurdish fox” became one of Sweden’s biggest criminals. He came to Sweden and Uppsala as an infant. He performed well in school and stood out positively in certain subjects.
But after graduation, his life takes a different turn. Rawa Majid is sentenced partly for fraud and partly to a long prison sentence due to drug offences, explains Nilsson.
Drug trafficking around the country
Around Majid is a core consisting of around ten relatives and close criminal allies. Several of these are leaders in other criminal networks, including the “Zero network” and the “Bro network” based in the Stockholm area.
– Those who are below these people are the ones who are the executors when it comes to taking care of the narcotics when they arrive in Sweden. But also executors when there is a conflict and it is to be shot and blown up, says the crime reporter.
But this does not stop in the Stockholm area. “The Kurdish fox” is present throughout the country. The drug trade that he is responsible for ends up in Sundsvall, Sörmland and Skaraborg, among others.
– This is briefly the background to the wave of violence we saw in January, explains Christoffer Nilsson.
