Hard John Wick action in a fantasy world that has disappeared from Disney+, but is really worth it

Hard John Wick action in a fantasy world that has

What if John Wick wasn’t an ex-assassin, but a battle-hardened princess on a bloody quest for revenge? This question is answered tonight on ProSieben The Princess with Netflix star Joey King.

The fantasy action thriller produced by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad for Hulu and Disney+ was kicked off the streaming world a few months ago. The TV broadcast now offers film fans the rare chance to see the film at all.

Fantasy action on TV: That’s what The Princess is about

The story of The Princess is quickly outlined. A princess (Joey King) awakens in the high tower of a castle to await her forced marriage to a power-hungry lord (Dominic Cooper). After being left at the altar, the psychopathic Julius wants to take the crown by force. After a few minutes the big fairy tale twist follows: The nameless king’s daughter knows how to defend herself.

The princess was secretly trained in martial arts in the past, which she can now put to use. In order to save her family and the empire, she has to… Fight your way down floor by floor while taking down her fiancé’s brutal henchmen.

The plot of the spectacle directed by Le-Van Kiet is more of a means to an end. The focus here is clearly on the intense and varied action scenes that bring back memories of The Raid and John Wick.

With creative methods and dynamic choreographies, Joey King’s fighting princess proves herself against endless hordes of opponents. You also have to get over the occasional slowing flashback or the sometimes noticeable CGI backgrounds. Because The Princess is one thing above all: a brutal B-movie action fest that entertains for 90 minutes.

The Princess had a sad fate on Disney+

Due to cost-cutting measures, Disney+ separated from numerous original productions in the spring that were thrown out of the streaming service’s program. The over 30 titles included the underrated fantasy series Willow and The Princess.

Many film and series fans feared that the titles removed from Disney+ might never be seen again. The surprise is even greater that The Princess is now being broadcast on TV.

When and where is The Princess on TV?

The Princess airs today, Friday, November 24, 2023 10:55 p.m. on ProSieben. If you miss the broadcast, the station will show a repeat on Saturday at 3:25 a.m.

Since The Princess is neither available to stream nor on Blu-ray, this is currently the only way to see the fantasy actioner.
