Now Handelsbanken’s turn has come. In an email to its customers, the bank urges caution.

There are several ways to reduce the risk of being exposed to fraudsters.

– The most important thing is to contact the bank immediately so we can block cards and vulnerable services and try to save the money. Then contact the police to file a report, says Andreas Jensenspecialist at Handelsbanken’s fraud prevention department, in it link sent out to the bank’s customers.

However, Handelsbanken’s advice differs slightly from other authorities’ advice. One piece of advice is to divide your money between different accounts. In this way, money can be made more difficult to access.

In the link that has been sent out to bank customers, six different points are listed with tips on how to avoid fraudsters. And this email is not a scam – it comes directly from Handelsbanken themselves.

  • End the call and hang up if someone asks you to provide information or do something.
  • Check that a caller is from the company they say they are calling from by looking up the company’s website and calling the official number.
  • Do not give out personal information and do not sign unknown payments.
  • Divide the money between different accounts so that there is a smaller amount in the account that is directly linked to the card and the remaining amount in other savings accounts.
  • When making purchases on the internet, always log out and deactivate the card via the internet and mobile bank.
  • If you suspect that someone else has obtained your card details, it must be blocked. Likewise if the card is lost.
