Häcken lost against Chelsea in the Champions League – after Anna Anvegård’s double goals

Häcken got a slightly sensational point away against Chelsea just under a week ago, when goalkeeper Jennifer Falk played great and ensured that the match ended 0-0.

But when the teams met this evening at Hisingen in Gothenburg, the English champion team found it too difficult. The team won, fully deserved, with 3–1.

First rib meeting early

But even if Chelsea were the better team, Häcken was far from harmless – even aside from Clarissa Larisey’s 1-1 goal in the 26th minute.

The closest was Anna Anvegård, who hit the bar twice.

– The centimeters were not on our side today, says Anvegård to SVT Sport.

The first hit on the crossbar came already after three minutes, when she headed Rosa Kafaji’s cross into the right corner of the goal area.

– It felt like it was on its way in, but it went on the outer edge of the crossbar, notes Anvegård.

Wrong verdict

The second cross, at 1-1, came just over three minutes into the second half when she struck a left-footed shot that went over Zecira Musovic in the Chelsea goal – but was stopped by the crossbar.

In the third additional minute, 21-year-old Molly Johansson, who is leaving the club for Kif Örebro next season, looked to reduce in her Champions League debut. But her header was wrongly ruled out for offside.

Important match against Paris

Hecken’s loss, combined with Paris FC winning 1-0 away to Real Madrid, means that it is now a real hornet’s nest in the group. Chelsea top on eight points, one point ahead of Häcken with Paris one point behind.

In the next round, on January 24, Häcken takes on Paris in particular.

– It’s going to be fun! I don’t know if we are ready if we win there or if we need another point, but it is highly unlikely that we have this one at home where I think we have shown that we are strong, says Anna Anvegård.
