Great news of joy for Stina Nilsson after the nightmare year – and the unexpected push into the national team

Stina Nilsson has had a very tough year behind her.
But now comes the great news for the Swede.
When the Swedish A national team in biathlon was presented on Tuesday.

Last season was not successful at all Stina Nilsson who had high expectations of approaching the highest world elite in biathlon. Instead, it was a year fringed with disappointment and setbacks.

Stina’s tough years

Neither the shooting nor the skating was right and the Swede ended up far down in the starting field time and time again. In the end, she was kicked from the A national team and was also not selected for the Biathlon World Cup, but instead had to focus on the IBU Cup during the final stage of the season.

Skottheim is poked

One name that was missing, however, was Johanna Skottheim who also had a really tough season and a whopping 47(!) sick days. Now the 28-year-old is being kicked from the A national team and has to focus on the IBU Cup for the coming season instead.
– Either you can be bitter and think it’s a plague and pain or you think it could be a new opportunity for me, says Skottheim himself about the announcement to SVT Sport.
– I see it as an opportunity with a different team and fewer travel days. It doesn’t have to get worse for me.

The Swede does not want to direct any bitterness towards the national team and is now looking ahead to a new season to show his best side again.
– I had a disastrous shooting season, but we have corrected that. I’ve been a good shooter for 14 out of 15 years and one year doesn’t make me a bad shooter, says Skottheim in the interview.
