Alvar Myhlback did his first relay in the World Cup.
Then he was met with fierce duels and words.
– You have to be ugly on many occasions, says Myhlback to Expressen.

On Sunday it was time for the relay. Sweden fielded two teams, and Myhlback was first out in the second team. He stayed in the lead all the way before the switch Björn Sandström. After the race, the 17-year-old was satisfied with his effort.
– It was good. It was bloody cowboy from start to finish, I love it, says Myhlback to Expressen.
Czech criticism
But not all riders appreciated the cocky 17-year-old’s approach in the tight tracks.
– It was extremely tight, you have to be ugly on many occasions. That’s how it is, if you don’t dare to take a seat and take care of yourself, you end up a baker. You can’t go and be afraid of the others. A lot of hard duels and you get ugly words thrown at you. The ugliest was in Czech, I don’t know what it meant…, says Myhlback.

Later admitted Michael Novakfrom the Czech Republic, that he said some well-chosen words to the young Swede.
– He drove off the track. I don’t think it was okay. But it’s a competition and a fight so… I yelled at him, but I won’t repeat what I said. Sorry. But he stepped on my skis, so I got mad. That was not very nice of him. But he is strong and very young so it is promising for Sweden, says Novak according to the evening newspaper.
