Google will launch Play Games its Android video game store

Android video games will officially land on Windows 11 in 2022. This is what Google unveiled at The Game Awards, an annual ceremony intended to reward video game titles released during the year.
The Mountain View firm took advantage of this evening to unveil its intention to launch in the course of the year 2022, its video game store Google Play Games, on Windows 11.

“Starting in 2022, gamers will be able to enjoy their favorite Google Play games on more devices – seamlessly switching between a phone, tablet, Chromebook and, soon, a Windows PC.
This Google-designed product brings the best of Google Play Games to more laptops and desktops, and we’re excited to expand our platform so gamers can enjoy their favorite Android games even more. ”
Greg Hartrell, product director for Android and Google Play games told our colleagues at The verge.

Google would have developed this store specific to Windows 11 on its own, without any specific agreement or partnership having been concluded with Microsoft, or any other player specializing in the emulation of Android games like Bluestacks. It will be a native Windows application developed and distributed directly by Google. All the games that will be offered there will be playable locally on the PC.
The Google Play Games, which should also run from Windows 10, will allow players to continue on their PC a game started on a smartphone, tablet or Chromebook.

The ability to install Android apps on Windows 11 is one of the most anticipated features by users of Microsoft’s new operating system.
The function, the result of a partnership between Amazon and Microsoft, was not available at the launch of Windows 11, but has started to be deployed in builds Microsoft’s Insider Program Beta Channel at the end of October, for US users only.

While waiting to be able to take advantage of it officially, it is still possible to sideloader Android apps using a dedicated third-party tool like WSATools.
