Glenn Hysén reveals the best player he has met – and pays tribute to the icon: “Damn, fantastic”

As active met Glenn Hysén many good players.
But there is one that stands out.
– He was impossible to stop, says Hysén to Sportbibeln.

Glenn Hysen played in clubs such as Liverpool, Fiorentina, PSV Eindhoven and IFK Göteborg. In the national team he made 68 appearances, and played in a world championship. Thus, it can be safely said that the former centre-back has both played with and met a lot of talented footballers in his life.

Hysén’s best

When asked who is the best he has played with, Glenn Hysén can easily answer, despite the wide range of players.
– The best I have played with is Tobbe Nilsson. A rugged player when he was at his best, says Hysén to Sportbibeln

And the question who is the best he has played against is even easier for Hysén to answer.
– There is really only one. Then no one comes, then no one comes and then the rest come after that. It is Diego Maradona. He played at Napoli when I was at Fiorentina.

Criticism of Maradona

Hysén says that there was really only one situation when it was fun to play against the Argentine legend.
– As long as you saw number 10, as long as you saw his back, it was calm. Because then he was wrong. But when he got the right turn, he was impossible to stop. So he was an incredibly good player.

However, the blue-white icon also has some criticism to hand out.
– It’s just a little sad that he threw himself in all situations. As soon as he approached the penalty area, he got a free kick, and he scored 8 out of 10 free kicks. It was frustrating. But as a football player, damn it. Fantastic, says Hysén.
