German twitch streamer denounces YouTube for deleting his channel, gets it back after 5 days

The 36-year-old streamer Staiy” is best known on Twitch for his opinion and reaction content. His YouTube channels mainly upload excerpts from his streams. Now his account was mistakenly blocked by YouTube, but although the platform admits the mistake, the channel remains offline.

Update 19:15 – The channel is now available again.

Original message:

What’s the deal with the deletion? As Staiy reports in a recent stream, he received an email from YouTube on May 25: His second channel, Second Class Reactions, had been removed for “serious and repeated” policy violations.

The channel mainly contains reactions that the streamer – or rather his editor – consider unsuitable for the main channel.

Apparently the channel was accidentally deleted

What is the problem? There are several of them. The reason given by YouTube for removing the channel is a violation of its policies on the sale of illegal or restricted goods or services.

These policies prohibit, among other things, the offering of drugs, gambling, sexual services and human trafficking. These are topics that Staiy has already commented critically on several occasions. It therefore seems unlikely that he should have offered such goods or services.

The content creator also states that he didn’t offer anything of the sort or have links to it on his channel, it’s “total nonsense”. The account is said to have been deleted by mistake – and without any warning.

Because even in the event of an actual violation, YouTube only removes the content in question and issues a warning. The channel is only removed if there are 3 “strikes” within 90 days.

Particularly annoying: YouTube even admits the mistake, but the channel still remains offline.

Twitch streamer is stunned: “How can that be?”

How does Staiy react? The streamer immediately contacted YouTube to clarify the matter. Since it is only his second channel, he can bear the damage, but one detail in the YouTube email in particular made him prick up his ears.

Likewise, once his channel has been deleted, he should be banned from creating a new channel or accessing another channel. Thus, his main channel would also be affected. In addition, as a larger streamer, Staiy also has employees who take care of its content and whose jobs are at risk if a channel simply disappears.

How did the communication with YouTube go? Despite the announced processing time of at least 2 days, YouTube got in touch with him within a few minutes, says Staiy. The response to his appeal states that the channel was checked again and no violations were found.

The channel will be restored within 48 hours, according to YouTube. That was on May 25th, but even 3 days later when Staiy addresses the situation in the stream, the channel is still offline. As of today, May 30th, you still get an error message when trying to access Second-rate Reactions (as of 12:15 p.m.).

The content creator is particularly annoyed that his channel was apparently automatically deleted, but human intervention cannot easily bring it back. He therefore wanted to draw attention to this error in the system, after all it could also affect his main channel or that of another YouTuber at any time.

I think how can this be? How can it be that the reaction is: “Yes, we made a mistake, but it won’t come back.” […] I’m really quite glad I’m not on [die Plattformen] has to leave because when it comes to the fact that they can just wipe your entire channel existence in a matter of seconds, that’s pretty concerning.

Whether the bug will be fixed and Staiy can get his channel back remains to be seen. Meanwhile, he jokes that the secondary channel’s content is being uploaded to the Clipfish website. According to the content creator, these are mainly reactions to the survival show Arctic Warrior.

It’s actually the streaming platform Twitch, which is often criticized for sudden bans and a lack of communication. This is a big problem, especially for smaller content creators, because they lose their sources of income for the duration of the bans.
