According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Baerbock Haavisto will discuss current foreign and security policy issues, Russia’s illegal attack on Ukraine and Finland’s NATO membership, the climate and security theme, and bilateral issues.

Baerbock will also meet the President of the Republic in Helsinki Sauli Niinistön.

The main topics of the meetings will be new armaments, such as sending Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine, and Finland’s NATO application.

Baerbock will also visit the large civilian shelter located in Merihaa, Helsinki. The German media have paid a lot of attention to Finland’s developed civilian protection system. For example news channel Deutsche Welle (you switch to another service) says that there are more shelters in Helsinki alone than in the whole of Germany.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Baerbock travels to Sweden.
