German Fight Club copy of Netflix genius surprising with double

Anyone who complains about the lack of German genre films should take a look at Who Am I – No System is Safe. Nitro will air Dark creator Baran bo Odar’s flick on Wednesday nights at 8:15 p.m. on Nitro.

For the hacking thriller, the director has thrown together elements of content from the acclaimed series Mr. Robot and David Fincher’s cult classic Fight Club to create for Entertaining genre entertainment with a twist guarantee to take care of from Germany.

Who Am I delivers stylish thriller entertainment with double bottoms

The plot revolves around the socially isolated hacker Benjamin, who founds a hacker collective with acquaintances from the Internet (including Elyas M’Barek and Wotan Wilke Möhring). After the group’s first fun actions, Benjamin finally finds himself on the wanted lists of the police and secret services.

In terms of staging, Baran bo Odar was clearly inspired by Fincher’s thriller style. This turns Who Am I into a fast-paced spectacle that the characters without unnecessary subplot strands with suspense whips through the story.

Of course, nothing is revealed about the finale here, but Fincher’s Fight Club was definitely the inspiration here, too. The most obvious twist in this German thriller is just a first feint for a double bottom, which only whirls everything up even more.

Anyone looking for a change from German arthouse dramas, TV material from public broadcasters or shallow comedies should give Who Am I a chance.
