German anger after Sweden’s treatment of Hugo Larsson

The conflict between Hugo Larsson and Jon Dahl Tomasson was the talk of the weekend in Sweden.
So also in Germany. According to reports, the midfielder’s German club is “extremely irritated” by how Sweden handled the situation.

Before the Nations League match against Estonia, the national team announced that the 20-year-old midfielder Hugo Larsson left the collection due to a slight feeling of damage. But the real reason is believed to have been that a conflict arose between the player and the national team captain Jon Dahl Tomassonwho chose to bench Larsson for several matches.

– He had the opportunity to come home and take care of his body and talk to his club properly. And chose it, said the national team manager Stefan Pettersson after the game on Sunday.

Reports of German anger

Tomasson was open and honest in the press and justified the poking of Hugo Larsson by saying he wanted more “vertical passes” instead of lateral passes from the former Malmö FF player. Larsson must have reacted to that statement – he thought the national team captain could keep those words to himself.

Now Expressen writes that German media, in particular Bild, are reporting a certain irritation at Hugo Larsson’s German club Eintracht Frankfurt. The Bundesliga ninth does not feel at all that the midfielder is injured and they question that it was the real reason why the player left the national team gathering.

The information states that the club is not satisfied with the Swedish treatment of Hugo Larsson. According to Bild, Frankfurt are “extremely annoyed” that the national team management chose to portray it as Larsson leaving due to injury. He is actually expected to practice with the team on Tuesday.

Tomasson praises the atmosphere

Despite the fact that the Hugo Larsson situation flared up as the big talking point after the first Nations League weekend, Jon Dahl Tomasson claims that the atmosphere in the national team is good. This despite the fact that columns have been written about splits, conflicts and various rumours.

– It may sound strange, but the players, more or less the entire squad, have said that it has been a long time since the atmosphere was so good in the national team, he said at the press conference on Sunday.

This was not what the Swedish national team and Jon Dahl Tomasson needed now. It would have been nice to be able to focus only on sports for a while in the future.
