(Tiper Stock Exchange) – Italian railway networklead company of the Infrastructure Pole of the FS Italiane Group, has awarded the works for the construction of the railway variant of the Riga Valley to the ICM company. The race is worth over 138 millionalso financed with funds from PNRR. The interventions will make it possible to directly connect the San Candido-Fortezza line to the Verona-Brennero route, between Rio Pusteria and Brixen reducing travel times. The project is also part of the works envisaged in the context of the Italian candidacy for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics.

THE passengers, thanks to the planned investments, they will gain 17 minutes of time and will have more journeys available, without the need to change trains on the route from Bolzano to Val Pusteria. The trains will run every 15 minutes between Bolzano and the Brenner Pass, while the direct connections between Bolzano and the Val Pusteria will run every 30 minutes. Two new stops (Varna and Naz-Sciaves) will bring more people to access the train services, creating a timetable at regular intervals.

The works consist in the construction of a new trackedsingle track, approximately 3.8 kilometers long which, detaching itself from the historic Verona-Brenner line, passes under the A22 motorway and the SS 12 in a tunnel, passes over the Isarco river valley on a new arched bridge, to then find a connection with the Fortezza-San Candido line, near which the new Naz-Sciaves stop will be built.

For the completion of the work was appointed as Extraordinary Government Commissioner Paola SignDeputy Director General Development and Standards of RFI.
