Frölunda’s brave recruitment coup was successful – the successful player all set despite the competitor’s huge bid

Already at the beginning of the year there were reports that Frölunda managed to pull off a signing coup from competitor Örebro. The hit player Linus Öberg was rumored to be ready for games in Frölunda for the upcoming SHL season.

Frölunda recruits

This despite the fact that Örebro Hockey tried to lure the 22-year-old with a huge offer during the season. Öberg thought about the offer for a long time but ultimately chose to turn down Örebro and then verbally agreed with Frölunda during the current season.

Linus Öberg then delivered 23 points in 51 games in the SHL but switched up during the playoffs. Then there were an impressive 11 points in 13 games from his club. On Monday, the forward was presented as Frölunda’s latest new acquisition.
– It will be incredibly fun, it was a while ago. I have enjoyed myself in Örebro, but wanted to try something new. Frölunda is an exciting club that wants to win, the chance to take a SM gold is there, says Öberg to the club’s official website.

“Twitched him”

The 22-year-old was born and raised in Trollhättan and is now returning to western Sweden again. The newly signed contract extends over three seasons and Frölunda welcomes Öberg in the best possible way.
– Linus is a player we have been interested in for a long time. We have pulled him before and now we got it and we are happy about that. Linus is from the region, is of a good age, has a fierce character and a nose for the goal. He will fit in with us and we expect him to take further steps, says Frölunda’s sporting director Fredrik Sjöström in a press release.

Linus Öberg has previously only played for Örebro in the SHL context. Where there have been a total of six seasons and 74 points in 193 games in the Swedish top flight.
