Of the ” moments of happiness » like the Olympics are also moments « which make networks prosper, whatever they may be, particularly prostitution but also forced labor, forced begging », noted the Minister responsible for Equality between women and men, Bérangère Couillard, detailing her measures.

In view of the Games, a support system will be put in place for hosts, such as the Airbnb platform. Cooperation between magistrates, police and associations will also see the light of day “ in all the places where the Olympic events will take place “.

The flagship measure of the French government’s new 2024-2027 strategy is the creation of a national identification, orientation and protection mechanism.

4,363 victims of human trafficking in France

It will soon be the subject of a feasibility study, financed to the tune of 20,000 euros, according to the government.

This tool is “ essential to ensure effective cooperation between stakeholders and better identification of trafficking situations as early as possible », Estimated Bérangère Couillard.

In 2022, 4,363 victims of human trafficking were identified in France and 2,994 were supported by associations. Among them, 76% are victims of sexual exploitation, including 94% women, according to official figures, 15% victims of labor exploitation, 7% victims of coercion to commit crimes and 2% of forced begging.

These are hidden, invisible dramas, which nevertheless happen before our eyes “, situations so atrocious that it is “difficult to face them”, underlined Roxana Maracineanu, secretary general of the interministerial mission responsible for the fight against trafficking in human beings.

“How can we imagine that a teenager the age of our daughters could be subjected to several sexual acts per day at the injunctions of her pimps,” continued the ex-swimmer and ex-minister.

How can we reverse the image we have of young people who pick pockets and understand that they are the victims of criminals? »

A national observatory, informed by public statistics and field surveys, will be created in order to establish “a regular status of the threat”.
