Two officials of the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) defended their president Wadie Jary, detained on October 26 on suspicion of corruption, this Saturday, October 28 according to AFP. Mohamed Wassef Jlaiel, vice-president of the FTF, assured that Wadie Jary had already been questioned in the past on the same files, stressing that “evidence of his innocence had been presented to the judicial and security authorities”. Another leader, Mohamed Hicham Dhib, said he was “certain that the law under which the president was suspended has become null and void, which means that the ministry relied on an obsolete text”. At the head of the presidency of the FTF since 2012, Wadie Jary was placed in detention by a judge of the Court of First Instance of Tunis following a complaint from the Ministry of Youth and Sports “concerning the illegality of “a contract concluded between the Federation and a technical director”, according to the ministry.
