The lawyers of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the Qatari president of Paris Saint-Germain, revealed this Friday, April 28 that a complaint for defamation was going to be filed against the Franco-Algerian lobbyist Tayeb Benabderrahmane, who accuses him of being responsible for his abduction and confinement in January 2020 in Qatar due to sensitive documents. “After having read the statements of Mr. Tayeb Benabderrahmane published in the press on April 28, Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi instructed us to file a complaint for defamation”, declared to AFP Mes Francis Szpiner and Renaud Semerdjian, lawyers of the boss of PSG. In articles published by Liberation and Le Parisien, the lobbyist claims to have been arrested in January 2020 in Qatar, sequestered for six months in “a secret place of detention” near the Ministry of the Interior and questioned by Qatari officers on documents in his possession potentially compromising for Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. “We are delighted that Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has finally decided to favor the legal route over insults through the press. We are therefore perfectly calm at the announcement of this procedure ”, reacted for their part the lawyers of Tayeb Benabderrahmane.
