Floderus’ sister about the news: The ground failed

On Sunday came the news that the Floderus family was worried about. The prosecutor in Iran is seeking the death penalty for their son and brother, Johan Floderus.

According to the Iranian prosecutor, Johan Floderus has spied for Israel and “spread corruption in the world”.

– We understood that something hard would come after all this time, but it was still like the ground gave way and it was difficult to take it in, says Johan’s sister Ingrid Floderus in SVT’s Aktuell.

“A glow has gone”

Last Saturday, Johan Floderus spoke with his parents. He then told about his situation in prison, and that he will soon run out of money for food.

Ingrid Floderus describes it as a “desperate situation”.

– I think you can see in the pictures that now he is not doing so well. He doesn’t look like himself anymore. It’s like a glow has gone out of the eyes.

The family does not have detailed access to Johan Floderus’ legal case, but Ingrid Floderus says that they are in close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also does not want to comment on a potential prisoner exchange with Hamid Noury, who is imprisoned in Sweden.

– It is clear that we want my brother, who is innocent, to be brought home. Sweden’s government has a great responsibility to protect an innocent citizen and not leave that citizen behind in a foreign country.

Participating in manifestation

On Thursday, the family is expected to participate in a demonstration in Brussels in support of Johan Floderus and his former fellow prisoner in Evin prison, Olivier Vandecasteele.

– We want to do it for Johan.
