Five to hospital after car collision in Gothenburg

The police were alerted just after 9pm about a person hit on Hisingen in Gothenburg, GP reports.

According to SOS Alarm, several people are said to have been hit and four ambulances are said to have been sent to the scene. Five people have been taken to hospital, says SOS Alarm for SVT.

– We have been to a parking lot at Bauhaus in Bäckebol and assisted the ambulance. But I can’t say anything about how many are injured or how the injuries are for the people, says Fredrik Johansson, alarm and line operator at the Rescue Service in Greater Gothenburg to SVT.

According to witnesses, some type of car encounter was taking place in the parking lot.

– It was during a street-race meeting that a car lost control during a burn-out display and drove into some of the spectators, says a witness GP.

– There were probably 500 people in the parking lot. I can’t tell how many were hit because it gets so smoky. I left the scene when I realized it had gone off the rails, says another witness.
