Five people have now been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, the Prosecutor’s Office confirms.

On Friday afternoon, the police were alerted to a suspected kidnapping in Sollentuna, north of Stockholm.

A large operation was launched and five people could be arrested in a forest area, according to Aftonbladet’s information. The kidnapped man was also able to be taken to safety.

The police suspect that the kidnapping is based on a dispute over a dog sale, according to the information.

The plaintiff allegedly ended up in debt to one of the alleged perpetrators after failing to pay for the dogs. He then allegedly contacted people from a criminal network to get help in getting the money, according to the information.

The arrested are men in their 20s, according to Aftonbladet’s information.
