In the world of Final Fantasy 14 there are always cosmetic additions that offer players the opportunity to customize their character. Square Enix is now offering a costume set, which can already be recreated for free.
This time Square Enix has brought to the store the Ysayle costume set of a popular character from the Heavensward expansion: The Iceheart costume, also known as Ysayle.
An official tweet from Square Enix announced the launch of the Ysayle costume set, accompanied by a call to say goodbye to the old clothes. But player reactions to this new offering have been mixed, to say the least.

Players are annoyed by the glamor and question the price
What do the players say? One player points out that it is already possible to recreate the Ice Heart costume in the game for free. This free version can’t quite keep up with the paid set, but it has the decisive advantage that it can be dyed – in contrast to its paid counterpart from the store.
User “Inksrocket” writes on Reddit: Thanks, but I’m fine with my handmade dyeable robe.

This has led some players to question the wisdom of the expensive purchase. The costume set costs 12 dollars (9 euros) in the store. According to qalexiaffxiv (via twitter.com), most of the equipment is available from level 15.
This means that players who don’t want to spend money can still achieve the look they want once they level up.
However, the paid costume set can be worn by any job, the free one can only be worn by magicians. There even appears to be a similar free robe for all jobs (via twitter.com), which raises the question of whether the purchase price of the paid set is really justified.
What’s particularly annoying for many players is that the paid Glamor doesn’t even include Iceheart’s unique hairstyle that many fans want. qalexiaffxiv writes: What’s the problem with adding her hair?
All in all, the introduction of the Ysayle costume set in Final Fantasy 14 seems to have sparked a discussion in the gaming community, with players weighing the pros and cons and wondering if the price is really reasonable.
