Labrador retrievers are still the most popular dog breed in Sweden, with German shepherds and golden retrievers next. But fewer and fewer are getting dogs, according to figures from the Swedish Agency for Agriculture.

The number of new dogs registered in the Swedish Agricultural Agency’s register last year was 67,700. It was a decrease of 13.3 percent compared to the record in the pandemic year 2021 when 78,052 were newly registered.

Compared to 2022, just over 3,000 fewer dogs were registered last year.
