Fewer butterflies counted than last year during annual garden butterfly

Province of Utrecht – A lemon butterfly, peacock’s eye or small cabbage white: there are fewer butterflies fluttering through the air than last year. This is evident from the annual garden butterfly count of the Butterfly Foundation. Nearly 5000 people took part in it last weekend across the country, of which almost 500 in the province of Utrecht. Together they have seen a total of more than 52,000 butterflies, in which 27 butterfly species have been spotted.
