Felicia Cedergren, 25, ended up in a coma in Thailand after a moped accident.
After the family’s struggle, she is now back in Sweden.
– It is absolutely wonderful that she is home, says uncle Daniel Cedergren.
After the serious moped accident on the paradise island of Koh Samui, the family jumped at the first best plan.
When they arrived at the hospital two days later, Felicia was in a coma.
The severe injuries and the expired travel insurance made it difficult to get her home, but now uncle Daniel Cedergren announces that she has landed in Sweden.
– It is absolutely wonderful. It is some kind of relief that we got her home despite all the circumstances, he says.
Felicia continues to be treated in hospital and the doctors have been able to establish that the injuries are more extensive than first thought.
– It has been discovered that certain nerve fibers in the brain are off and you don’t really know how that can affect her. She might not be quite what she was before. You don’t know when she’ll wake up and it’s a hard feeling not knowing how she’ll feel. I hope she can be strong through this, he says.
The tribute
In order to bring Felicia home, the family had to collect 900,000 kroner for hospital costs and transport, which they managed to do thanks to donations. Now they want to pay tribute to everyone who helped.
– It was a question of money because she had no insurance. But it worked out in the end thanks to donations from all the nice people who supported us. Without them it would not have been possible to bring her home, says Daniel Cedergren.
“Became a witch hunt”
At the same time, it has been forced to contend with accusations in social media that everything would have been just a fraud. Something that took a toll on the family.
– It became a witch hunt. Having to take a lot of crap from people who question this for no reason, it’s life threatening and I don’t think they know what they’re doing. I hope they think about what they have done.
