US rates Fed minutes towards another increase

(Finance) – Inflation still remains above the target, but i upside risks have diminished. The Federal Reserve states this in the minutes of the meeting of 12 and 13 December, adding that monetary policy will remain restrictive for some time. The rates – we read in the minutes – are at or close to the peak.

As for forecasts on the trend of interest rates, the Fed underlines that there is a high level of uncertainty. At the meeting on 12 and 13 December, some members highlighted the risks associated with maintaining a restrictive policy.
The dot plot – the tables with rate forecasts – which accompanied the statement of the Fed’s decision in December to keep the cost of money unchanged indicated possible rate cuts in 2024.
