Three teens face charges after a fake bomb threat halted a Via Rail train before it reached Chatham’s Queen Street Station, Chatham-Kent police say.

An anonymous 911 call just before 9 pm Wednesday claimed there was a bomb on a Via train bound for Chatham, said police.
911 operators determined the caller was on the westbound Via train, police said. Officers boarded after the train was stopped near Sass Road and Colborne Street in Chatham.
Officers located the caller, determined the bomb threat was false and had been called in as a joke, police said. Three suspects were arrested.
A 15-year-old male is charged with public mischief, police said.
He and two other teens, none of whom can be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, also are charged with breaching release conditions, police said.
The three were herd pending a bail hearing Thursday, police said.

“Police would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and that there is no current threat to public safety,” the release said
Male charged after man, woman clash
A Chatham resident faces charges after man and woman clashed early New Year’s Day, Chatham-Kent police say.
Officers called to a Houston Street residence in Chatham about 5 am Wednesday, learned a woman had been grabbed by the throat after arguing with a man, police said. The woman’s vehicle had been damaged after a glass bottle was thrown at it.
A Chatham man, 27, faces two counts of assault causing bodily harm and one count of mischief under $5,000, police said. He was released with conditions and a short date.
