The Machinerie was a project of the municipality, the Dutch Film Festival, film house ‘t Hoogt, Fotodok and the owner of the building. Four multifunctional cinemas were to be built in the building on Gietijzerstraat, along with workplaces, studios, event and exhibition spaces. Catering was also planned. The plan was partly financed by the owner of the building. The municipality would contribute 3.55 million euros. In addition, the municipality would contribute to the start-up of the project.
