KuPS defeated Inter in the Veikkausliiga’s upper secondary series 1–0 after the high stages. He scored the winning goal Axel Vidjeskog from a penalty kick when the match had been played for 90+5 minutes.

A foul was adjudged when the referee looked at the Inter striker Matias Tamminen who played the ball with his hand in the penalty area.

As you can see from the video below, it depends on whether the ball hits Tamminen’s hand inside or outside the penalty area.

In the 74th minute, replaced by Inter Timo Stavitski said after the match that the bench was not afraid of the whistle, because it was thought to be a free kick.

– It came as a bit of a surprise when the ball was taken to the spot. These are these. If there is no video referee system VAR, what can be done about it?

Earlier, Inter also had the opportunity to decide the match with a penalty kick, when the team’s striker Stavitski scored two of them in seven minutes after an hour of play. Austrian goalkeeper of KuPS Johannes Kreidl however, pulled a longer stroke both times.

Stavitski shot in the middle and up on his first attempt. He managed to score with a hard shot to the center in August against KTP.

– I already decided in time that the same but in the air. The difficulties are such that they have to be decided early enough and then implemented. The problem here was actually the decision to pull in the middle again.

Stavitski placed the second goal in the lower right corner, but Kreidl managed to get the ball in the way again.

– When there are two commas in the game and the first is messed up, the options are either corner. Now Kreidl guessed it. Congratulations to him.

The victory was very important for KuPS in terms of the championship. It moved within a point of league leaders HJK, who have one less match to play. HJK will play against SJK tomorrow.

KuPS hero Kreidl said that he knew that Stavitski sometimes shoots in the middle.

– Of course, he decides where to shoot the ball. In the end games, you have to be a little lucky and play the cards right. Today I succeeded twice. Fighting a ranker is always a gamble. I rarely stay in the middle, but luckily I did now. After fighting off the first tough guy, the second one was just intuition and feeling.

Kreidl says that the goalkeeping coach of the team analyzes the tough guys Joonas Pöntinen with.

– “Pönä” does a good job in every game, Kreidl said.
