Expert worried about the Pelicans’ offensive courts in the final series – “You can’t win Finnish championships on one court” | Sport

Expert worried about the Pelicans offensive courts in the final

‘s expert Topi Nättinen picked the three most significant issues that emerged from the second final of the ice hockey SM league.

1) Pelicans better than in the opening final – just not enough against Tappara

‘s expert Top Nättinen admires Tappara’s level of routine.

– Pelicans was better than in the opening final, but it’s frustrating for them that even that wasn’t enough against Tappara. In the first period, the team already got to the middle sector this time to try to score, but the problem was that Pelicans didn’t get enough pucks to the goal – either because of blocks from Tappara’s players or because the mask was missing Christian Heljangon from the front.

Tappara, which is chasing its third consecutive championship, is not a slow-burning team – in fact, quite the opposite. In the 13 playoff matches they have played, kirvesrinnat has scored the opening goal eleven times.

Tappara’s head coach Rikard Grönborgin the piloted crew has already decisively led both finals with goals of 3–0 and in a way hit Pelicans with a bone in the throat in the early stages of the first half of the matches, which has only found its effectiveness in the final stages of the matches – however too late.

Second SC final 22.4., Lahti:

  • Pelicans – Tappara 2–3 (0-1, 1-2, 1-0)
    14.52 0-1 Liedes (Rauhala, Ekberg)
28.02 0-2 Savinainen (Camper, Kontiola) yv
    34.21 0-3 Tuulola (Savinainen, Granath)
    37.53 1-3 Horky (Schnarr)
    55.23 2-3 Utunen (Jordan, Lasch)
  • Cooler: Pelicans 3×2, Tappara 3×2 min
  • Fights: Audience: 4403
    Niklas Kokko 10+13+8=31
    Christian Heljanko 10+ 7+ 6=23
  • Final wins for Tappara 2–0.
The third final on Wednesday 24.4. In Tampere.
  • – Quite a good start to the match from the Pelicans, who got the flow of the game for themselves. Tappara didn’t come close to the level they are capable of playing, but it seems that it is enough to play steadily and patiently. That, too, produces results and incredible goal chances, says Nättinen.

    2) Goalkeeper Niklas Kokko

Without the Pelicans goalie Niklas Kokon saves Tappara would be the solutions in the second period of the match. In total, the goal posts were estimated to be 15-5 for Tappara by the log man’s accounting.

    – He blocked three clean runs as well as Heikki Liedensen a half run away. Among other things, the bonfire reset by Philip Granath, Otto Sompin mixed Oiva Keskinen top positions, giving the Pelicans a chance to fight for victory, the expert praised the 20-year-old goalkeeper who stopped the little blacks with 91.18 percent in the second final.

    – Kokko made a lot of big saves, and couldn’t do anything to Liedes’ gunner, and didn’t Joni Tuulola to the drive-through goal. Perhaps Veli-Matti Savinainen Nättinen thinks that he himself would have liked to have blocked the knuckles in front of the goal.

    3) The width of the Pelicans’ offensive chains

For the second final, the Pelicans coaching changed in attack Aleks Haatanen and Aatu Jämsenin places with each other. However, Haatanen did not get it by Nathan Schnarr and having scored Lubos Horkyn the game of the first chain to a sufficient level.

    – Jämsen had one glimpse in the opening set, but he didn’t wake up by Elias Vilén and Konsta Hirvonen side by side in a triple chain, which is probably what the coaching staff expected. The playoff game was his sixth in a row without power points.

For the last ten minutes of the third period, the Pelicans made a change in which they changed Juhamatti Aaltonen and Haatanen’s places.

    – It was a classic last-minute panic in a way, when something to come up with.

According to the expert, the Pelicans star court Lars BryggmanPatrik CarlssonRyan Lasch cannot simply be broken.

    – The question is, how will those other fields be rotated in the future? You won’t win Finnish championships if you play in an attacking direction on one field! Of course, Horky has scored two final goals, but the Pelicans would like more of that kind of fresh, active offensive play from the chain level. Now it depends on one joke, analyzes Nättinen.
