Everton secured the contract after a turnaround

Dominic Calvert-Lewin became a great hero when he made it 3-2 against Crystal Palace in the 85th minute. Thus, the classic Everton plays in the top league for the 69th season in a row 2022–2023.

However, it was a long way off.

At half time, Everton was 0-2 down.

Every now and then saw Sunday’s final league round out to be a real thriller. As the position was then, Everton only had one point down to both Burnley, right on safe ground, and Leeds, below the relegation line.

There was thus a risk that Everton next season would play in the English second division for the first time since 1953-1954.

But midfielder Michael Keane started the pickup at the start of the second half, and when attacking star Richarlison equalized to make it 2-2 in the 75th minute, it suddenly looked very positive for Everton.

And then Dominic Calvert stepped up-Lewin came forward and thus made sure to definitely keep the club in English football’s fine room, which made joyful home supporters run onto the pitch.

Instead, it will be Burnley – who currently have 1-1 away against Aston Villa with a few minutes left to play – and Leeds who will decide which team will not have to join Watford and Norwich down to the League Championship.

In Sunday’s final round, Burnley will face Newcastle at home, while Leeds will face Brentford away.
