Europeans 2024 Melenchon dares to hold a meeting that no

LFI figure, Jean-Luc Mélenchon is preparing to innovate once again for his next meetings, after the hologram episode in 2017.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon will innovate. For once, the former presidential candidate wants to stand out. Already in April 2017, the leader of La France Insoumise stepped up to appear simultaneously in 7 different cities, for 7 meetings live thanks to a hologram. Physically present in Dijon, it was also virtually represented in Nancy, Nantes and Montpellier, a first in France. It is clear that the latter has decided to do it again, in a different way of course, but still one step ahead in terms of innovation compared to its competitors.

A first meeting in a “sensitive” district of Marseille

Before the European elections in June 2024, Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to organize meetings in working-class neighborhoods and in cities, according to information from France Info. Several cities are concerned: Toulouse, Bordeaux, Marseille and the department of Seine-Saint-Denis. The form is still under consideration. A first meeting in the northern districts of Marseille is in preparation and will take place at the end of May in a “sensitive” city as indicated by France Info, without disclosing its name. Only the list of Ecologists, led by Marie Toussaint, had organized its first meeting in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille last February, but without its leader. With Jean-Luc Mélenchon, this is the first figure of national stature to dare to take this gamble before such an election.

This announcement comes at a time when the list of La France Insoumise for Europeans – led by Manon Aubry – is still significantly behind the leaders of this election in the polls. According to an Ifop-Fiducial poll for Le Figaro and Sud Radio (April 12), it brings together 8% of voting intentions. It appears behind the Republican list led by François-Xavier Bellamy (8.5%) and that of the Socialist Party led byRaphaël Glucksmann (12.5%). The first two places are occupied by Jordan Bardella (RN) with 31.5% of voting intentions, followed by the majority candidate, Valérie Hayer (Renaissance) and her 18% of voting intentions.

Affirm your status on conquered territory

During his next meeting in Marseille, in the northern districts, Jean-Luc Mélenchon will be accompanied by two Rebels including Rima Hassan, seventh on the LFI list in the European elections and recently accused of having made certain ambiguous remarks during the attacks committed by the Hamas inIsrael. With this proximity strategy, LFI hopes to achieve an encouraging score, without falling too far behind the list which is currently leading the debates on the left, that of the Socialist Party. These meetings are “a way of going where people live, so that the Republic regains its rights” confided a rebel to France Info. The objective is clear for the Mélenchon clan: to consolidate conquered lands.
