(Finance) – In the month of December, new car registrations in the EU increased by 12.8%marking the fifth consecutive month of growth this year.
According to data published by theAcea, the best results were recorded by the German and Italian markets, with double-digit increases of 38.1% and 21% respectively. On the other hand, the worst market is Spain which suffered a contraction of 14.1%, while France remained stable (-0.1%).
Overall 2022the European Union automotive market recorded a decline of 4.6%, mainly due to the impact of component shortages in the first half of the year.
Among the four largest EU markets, in 2022, only the Germany managed to record growth (+1.1%), while theItaly reported a 9.7% decline, followed by France (-7.8%) and Spain (-5.4%).
As for the brands, in December, Volkswagen it recorded a +19.7% closing the year with a drop of 5.2%; Stellantis ended with a drop of 6.6% (-14.1% per year), while Renault it closed the month with a growth of 1.8% (-4.3% the annual figure).
