EPN survey More than half of Finns would stop issuing

The strongest supporters of the ban are men, 50–64-year-olds, high-income earners, and supporters of the coalition and Basic Finns.

More than half of Finns would stop issuing tourist visas to Russian tourists. The matter is clear from a survey conducted by Taloustuikma.

58 percent of the survey respondents support and 24 percent oppose the end of issuing visas to tourists. 18 percent of respondents could not state their position.

In northern and eastern Finland in favor of the ban, in the west against it

In a survey commissioned by , the strongest support for ending the issuance of tourist visas is men, aged 50–64, high earners, and supporters of the coalition and basic Finns. Of the professional groups, white-collar workers and pensioners are most often in favor of ending it.

Women and 25–34-year-olds, as well as supporters of the Power belongs to the people party and RKP, would still be more likely to be granted tourist visas than others. Based on the profession, especially those in a leading position and employees are more willing than others to continue issuing tourist visas.

Residents of Northern and Eastern Finland are more often in favor of the visa ban. Western Finns, on the other hand, would most often continue to issue visas.

Childless couples are the most likely to stop issuing visas, while families with children are the most willing to continue issuing them.

Taloustutkimus interviewed about a thousand people for the survey at the beginning of August. The survey was conducted in an online panel, and the sample represents the Finnish adult population.

The law prevents the complete cessation of visa processing

Many MPs have said that they support stricter visas for Russians.

Finland has already limited it. In principle, multiple-entry visas are not granted to first-time visa applicants, and the number of applications is limited to one thousand per day.

The law, however, prevents a total cessation of visa processing. Even the annulment of issued visas would hardly be legal.
