Efforts to build a new Children’s Treatment Center of Chatham-Kent took a big step this week, thanks to a $200,000 donation from Entegrus.

In a news release, the Chatham-based utility announced its support for the butterfly building campaign.

“Entegrus takes great pride in its support for the children’s treatment center,” Jim Hogan, president and chief executive, said. “It is both our honor and privilege to be a long-time supporter.
“We are grateful to be able to contribute $200,000 toward their campaign to help ensure the center’s ever-growing needs are met with the support they deserve.”
The building campaign aims to develop a 4,645-square-meter (50,000-square-foot) facility to meet the needs of a growing community. Entegrus stated its donation will help bring the center closer to its $10-million goal.
“Entegrus goes beyond providing electricity,” Kevin Owen, board chair for the treatment center foundation, said in the release.

“The company also brings about positive change. Without dedicated donors such as Entegrus, this new building would remain a vision. Their support will play a crucial role in turning this vision into reality.”
This past year, Entegrus and its employees have donated approximately $400,000 to local organizations and causes.
Although the province has pledged more than $20 million to build the new treatment center on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham, the butterfly building campaign covers the cost of equipment, furniture and fixtures.
The McGeachy Charitable Foundation also recently made a significant donation to the campaign, with a $300,000 contribution announced in November.
The new center will feature enhanced amenities, including a dedicated gym, therapy rooms and a pool accessible to clients and the wider community.
