An employee at the Employment Service in Västerbotten has been dismissed since it was discovered that she was wrongly paid SEK 700,000 by submitting travel invoices for trips she did not complete, reports SVT Västerbotten.
The woman submitted travel invoices for work-related trips to locations in the county during 2020-2021, but an examination showed that she had made up almost all of them.
– We have to tighten up, says Christina Storm Wiklander, regional manager of the North region to the TV channel.
Storm says that the management has added a competence development effort for the staff.
– Our attitude is still that we want to trust our employees. The vast majority want to do the right thing.
The woman admits that she has received compensation to which she was not entitled for two-thirds of the trips. She has explained her actions with a stressful work situation.
