The film is based on a true event. In 1985, a drug mule crashed in the Appalachian Mountains, dropping 80 pounds of cocaine in the wild. A black bear discovered the lost contraband and munched on it until he died of an overdose. In Cocaine Bear, however, the animal will survive and instead, intoxicated, will search all nearby human settlements for supplies of powder.

Some will think Banks insane to bet all their money on such a horse. After all, with 3 Charlie’s Angels was already the last film of the talented director (Pitch Perfect 2) a box office flop. But she definitely doesn’t lack courage. Or weird taste.
