An electrical malfunction caused a fire in a change room at the Gable Rees Rotary Pool in Blenheim, Chatham-Kent fire and emergency services said.

Firefighters from Blenheim Station No. 18 responded to a 911 call at about 5 p.m. Thursday reporting flames at the pool on Regent Street.

Firefighters were met with heavy black smoke when they entered a change room, the department said in a news release.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames and contained the fire to the shower area. Crews remained on scene clearing smoke and working with fire investigators into the evening, the department said.
