Ebba Årsjö directs harsh criticism at FIS – receives heartwarming support in Norway: “Nobody cares”

FIS posted a picture on social media.
In the comment field, Ebba Årsjö is found, who directs great criticism at the image.
“You have shown how much you care,” she writes under the post.

Ebba Årsjö, 22, competes in alpine para skiing, and has previously also competed in downhill. Årsjö competes in para sports as she was born with Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome, which means that her right leg cannot form muscles as it should, or to the same extent as her left leg.

Ebba Årsjö’s success

Årsjö had a super season in 2022. The alpine para-skier won two World Cup golds, two Paralympic golds, and ended the season with four World Cup victories in four days. It was followed up by a brilliant 2023, where she won four WC golds and the overall slalom cup.

The 22-year-old has been widely praised for being open about and showing off her functional variety. She has also stood up several times for para-sport and its rights. And now she’s doing it again.

Directs heavy criticism

Because on Instagram, the International Skiing Federation, FIS, published a picture of the winter schedule of the ladies’ alpine skiing. Then they didn’t include the alpine para-skiing.
“It wouldn’t hurt, and it’s not particularly complicated, to just publish something about us paragliders. You may be right, you are not obliged to do so. But can’t you do it because you want to? Because you want to make people’s lives better? Because you want to contribute to change? No one cares if it is or isn’t, or isn’t yet in your plans, anymore. After a year of silence and being in the shadows, you have already shown us how much you care,” writes Årsjö under the post.

“One of our goals is to improve communication for para sports and we are working on the combined content initiatives and giving them the spotlight they deserve. Thank you for your patience,” FIS replied.

Årsjö also received support from the Norwegian alpine para-skier Jesper Saltvik Pedersenwho also previously took a stand on para sports.
