Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson competed at home.
Then there was anger between the stars.
– I actually got mad, says Ebba to Expressen.
They are two of the skiing world’s biggest stars, and both Ebba Andersson and Frida Karlsson happen to come from Sollefteå. It was the first time since the breakthrough that the stars met at home, and ahead of this weekend’s competitions, Frida Karlsson thought it was prestigious.
Unexpected anger
And it was also noticeable on Sunday. There was a drama between Frida and Ebba at the start of the chase, and in the end after 15 even kilometers, Frida Karlsson was able to cross the finish line first, with a margin of only 2.5 seconds. Frida Karlsson won the sprint against Ebba, and immediately after the finish line it became apparent that it was infected.
According to Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson must have been irritated already during the race, when she thought that Frida Karlsson was too close to her.
– I had a delusion that I was lying on her skis. It felt like it was a fight, both wanted to get up here on home soil, says Frida Karlsson to Expressen.
“Got to be honest…”
Ebba Andersson and Frida Karlsson exchanged a few quick words in the goal area, but Ebba was in a hurry to leave. She admitted afterward that she was angry during the race.
– I actually got quite mad at her and shouted “You’re such a pain Frida!”. It is clear that there is additional stress and you lose part of your own rhythm. It was my way of giving her a little boot. She didn’t break any rules, but she pissed me off, I’ll be honest and say that, she says.
Ebba Andersson even handed out a small pat on Frida’s shoulder after the finish, and although they quickly became friends again afterwards, Ebba admits that it was infected after the finish.
– She was worth that little can, I didn’t want to say more then and there. I needed to cool down for a few seconds.
