Ebba Andersson is the season’s first guest on SVT’s Kallprat.
Then she began by scolding the presenter Johan Kücükaslan.
– I actually thought: “What is this?”, she says.
She is Sweden’s hottest cross-country skier at the moment and she won two straight victories during the domestic premiere weekend in Bruksvallarna. Ebba Andersson27, has his sights set on the World Cup premiere in Ruka, but of course this season is very much about the WC. Andersson is reigning world champion in skiathlon and 30 km freestyle.

Given that she has been, in competition with Frida Karlsson and Jonna SundlingSweden’s best cross-country skier for a couple of years, there were certainly many who expected her to be invited as a guest when SVT launched the talk show Kallprat last year. Famous Swedish winter athletes were interviewed by the SVT journalist Johan Kücukaslan and got to show off a little more lighthearted and free sides of themselves.

The first year was Hanna Öberg, Emil Persson, Frida Karlsson, Sebastian Samuelsson, Lynn Svahn, William Poromaa and Armand Duplantis (special episode) on the guest list. So it wasn’t Ebba Andersson. But she got the chance to be in the premiere episode now that season 2 has been recorded. Kücükaslan then asked if she was upset because she didn’t get to be in the first season.
– A certain irritation arose when you saw that SVT had a new winter talk show – and that you were not invited, he claims in the program.
– Is it your own you are talking about?, she asks back.
– So last winter, he says.

It turns out that she must have walked around wondering why the phone never rang. She’s obviously a little bummed that she was never asked to join.
– I actually thought: “What is this? When have they done this? Why haven’t I been asked?”. I actually thought so. “How did they think when they selected these? Do they think that these people are the most interesting in Skis Sweden?”, she says.
Then Kücükaslan tries to defend herself, which is why he and the SVT editors opted her out last year.
– You think long-term, too. You can’t burn all the good names in one season, he says.
Then Ebba comes up with a quick and cunning counterattack as well.
– Or you know what? You save the best for last, she says.

Exciting to see how things go for Ebba Andersson this year in both the World Cup and the WC. We really keep our fingers crossed that she will have a super year with great success.
