The World Cup in Östersund did not go according to plan for the Swedes.
Ebba Andersson had to accept the award anyway – but not in her best mood.
– I forewarned Charlotte, who was going to hand out the award, Andersson told Expressen.
The Swedish ladies started the World Cup season in an incredible way. It has been the majority of Swedish victories during the first stops in Ruka and Gällivare, and the Swedes have really made us proud.
Disappointed Andersson
This weekend the World Cup was in Östersund. The city is home to several of the Swedish skiers, who live there, among other things, because of the training opportunities.
It was a good start to the competitions when Emma Ribom on Saturday won the sprint. In addition, came Lynn Svahn third, and Moa Lundgren made it to his first sprint final.

When it was time for the 10 kilometer freestyle on Sunday, everyone was surprised that the Swedish ladies, for whom it had gone so well initially, did not perform at all. Best Swedish was Ebba Andersson, in a shocked ninth place. At the same time, the shooting star came Moa Ilar in an 18th place, and Frida Karlsson did her worst distance race at the World Cup in her career when she landed in 23rd place. Afterwards, the skis have been pointed out as the culprit in the drama, and Ebba Andersson was not happy.
– Now I’m mostly just pissed off. It was a good physical day for me. Many had made it here, at home on a fun and demanding course. Then it still didn’t fully flap today. Then you get frustrated, she tells Expressen.
Called words
Despite everything, Ebba Andersson had to receive an award. The 26-year-old received the award as “Winter Athlete of the Year in Östersund” after finishing. This after she won two individual WC golds and two WC bronzes during the championship in Planica last spring.
– It was a happy surprise. Although I reluctantly went out and received it because I was so pissed off. Was it Östersundsbo of the year? No, winter athlete of the year in Östersund. It is important to emphasize, says Andersson.

The person who presented the award was none other than the skiing legend, and Ebba’s former teammate, Charlotte Kalla. Andersson then gave a clear message.
– I forewarned Charlotte, who was to present the award, and said “just so you know I’m mad”. She replied that it must be. She herself knows what it can be like after finishing. We’ve all seen her black eyes that can appear if things don’t go as she wants, she says to the evening newspaper.
