Drug trafficking investigation sees two Ohsweken residents charged

Two Ohsweken residents are facing charges following a drug trafficking investigation.

Six Nations Police responded to a report of an alleged shooting on Bateman Line just after 7 am on Tuesday, May 28.

Officers later located the two suspects at a Seneca Road address on Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and arrested them without incident.

The next day police executed search warrants on a mobile trailer and two vehicles on the Seneca Road property.

Police seized a handgun loaded with ammunition, a large quantity of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $50,000, digital scales, drug packaging materials, cell phones, weapons and ammunition.

A 32-year-old Ohsweken man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl; two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order; firearm – pointing; discharging a firearm with intent; three counts of careless use of a firearm, weapon, or ammunition; unauthorized possession of a firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm; firearm in motor vehicle; prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; intimidation; unauthorized possession of a weapon; and assault with a weapon.

A 47-year-old Oshweken woman has been charged with dangerous driving; mischief under $5,000; two counts of careless use of a firearm, weapon or ammunition; unauthorized possession of a firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm; firearm in motor vehicle; prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition; and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both suspects were held for formal bail hearings and later remanded into police custody.
