Driver escapes vehicle that went into the St Clair River

The lone occupant of a vehicle that went into the St. Clair River Tuesday evening was able to escape with minor injuries, Lambton provincial police say.

Police said the vehicle left the St. Clair Parkway in St. Clair Township and went into the river, but the 24-year-old Corunna driver was able to get out.

The individual was assessed at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries, police said.

Officers were called out to the scene at 6:30 pm

Police said no charges were ugly.

“The OPP wants to remind motorists to be mindful of changing weather conditions, and to adjust driving accordingly,” police said in a news release.

“Large amounts of melting snow can cause minor flooding on area roads. Reduce vehicle speeds prior to entering any localized flooding on roads, to avoid the possibility of hydroplaning or loss of control.”
