Dream start for Elias Lindholm in the new NHL team – with double goals in the successful debut

Elias Lindholm got off to a blistering start as he scored twice in his debut for Vancouver, beating Carolina 3-2.

The first goal came in numerical superiority late in the opening period after an assist by Elias Petterson and Quinn Hughes, whose shot he headed in. The 29-year-old’s second goal also came with one more man on the ice when he once again headed in a puck from Hughes.
– It’s always fun to score goals and help the team, said the Swede after the game, to nhl.com.

Lindholm was traded as recently as last week from Calgary, where he was in his sixth season.
– There was a lot of new information, a lot of new things in my head, but I just tried to play my game, work hard and keep it simple, said Lindholm, who after the night’s goal has a total of 34 points this season.

Teammate Hughes took the opportunity after the game to heap praise on his new colleague.
– If I shoot 50 shots, he would probably direct 49 of them. He’s a great, great player who will be very successful here.

For Vancouver, the win means moving into the lead in the Pacific Conference on the same points as Vegas, but with a better goal difference.

Another Swede who scored in the night’s round is Jesper Brattwho delivered both a goal and an assist as his New Jersey beat Colorado at home 5–3.
