Double shootings in Stockholm

During Sunday evening, the police received a call that shots had been fired at a residential building in Fittja. A moment later there was an alarm about loud explosions in Visättra in Huddinge south of Stockholm. No people are said to have been injured in connection with the events, which the police are investigating as attempted murder.

It was at 6:34 p.m. that the police received calls from several callers that shots had been fired in Fittja. On the spot, it was established that a residential building had been hit. One or more people must have been seen leaving the scene in connection with the incident.

– No one is injured and a preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been initiated, says Anders Bryngelsson, press spokesperson at the Stockholm police region.

At the moment, the police do not want to say whether there were people inside the apartment building when the incident occurred.

Shooting in Visättra

A little later in the evening, at 19.17, the police received an alarm from a caller who heard bangs in Visättra in Huddinge, south of Stockholm. According to the police, a perpetrator must have shot at several people outside.

– I cannot go into exact details, but one person has shot at several people outside. No one is injured, and no perpetrator has yet been arrested, says Anders Bryngelsson.

In this case too, a preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been initiated.

– We have a large number of resources on site. We are interviewing witnesses, we have cordoned off the area and are looking at surveillance footage.

Does not rule out connection

The police are currently tight-lipped about both incidents because they are at an early stage in the preliminary investigation. It is also too early to say whether Sunday’s shootings are connected.

– It is too early to say anything about it, but we are not ruling anything out. Of course, we check all possible connections, says Anders Anders Bryngelsson.
