Everyone at Liseberg is “deeply concerned and shaken” by the extensive fire in the Oceana water palace, says CEO Andreas Andersen.

– Right now our focus is not on the economy and the material damage, but on the people affected by the fire, he says.

The Lisebergs CEO was gathered when he attended a press conference about the fire on Tuesday.

– I can only express how appalled and deeply unhappy we are about what has happened, he says.

Liseberg’s two main focuses in the past 24 hours have been partly to take care of the employees and guests affected by the fire, and partly to assist the police and rescue services in the work to limit the damage.

– Since the information reached us that a colleague who worked at Liseberg is still missing, our thoughts are with him and his family, says Andreas Andersen.

The billion-dollar project Oceana was supposed to open in the summer and was almost complete when the fire started. Now large parts of the water palace’s buildings are completely destroyed.

– Many wonder what is happening now. The simple answer is that we don’t know. We don’t have an overview of the consequences, Andersen says, adding:

– At the same time, I can promise that we will look forward with determination and hope.
