A relatively large percentage of those who contract covid get more long-term and sometimes severe problems, such as extreme fatigue, cognitive difficulties and brain fatigue. Until now, it has been difficult both to diagnose postcovid, and also to find effective treatments.
Changes in blood protein
In the new study published in the journal Science researchers have analyzed blood from 113 patients with covid-19. About half of them had been affected by postcovid. The researchers analyzed over 6,000 different proteins in the blood samples, and when comparing those who fully recovered with those who had lingering problems, the researchers discovered changes in certain blood proteins in the very patients affected by post-covid.
