According to the news in the Dawn newspaper, the boat with more than 100 people returning from a wedding organization capsized near the city of Rahim Yar Khan.
In a statement made by the government, it was reported that about 90 people were rescued by divers.
“We have found 20 bodies so far, most of them women,” said Aslam Tasleem, a local government official. Tasleem also said that 30 more people are missing.
Rahim Yar Khan Deputy Commissioner Seyit Musa Rıza said in a statement on the subject that the boat capsized due to too many people getting on and the high flow rate of the water, and that the search and rescue efforts are continuing.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif issued a message of condolence for those who lost their lives due to the accident.
